I’m really grateful to be connected with you here in healing and I wanted to share with you a powerful message and lesson I learned that helped me in so many ways. If you will, please allow me to share this with you below.
When I was 13 years old and again when I was in my early 20’s, I was involved in a car accident and the effects I experienced affected me on many levels, both physically and emotionally. I was in emotional shock both times. Why am I sharing this with you? There’s a correlation here, I promise!
When we look at this scenario of a car accident and the experience of the death of a beloved pet, the effects can be the same. We aren’t taught to realize that the loss of someone close to us can actually put us into a shocked state and that our bodies may go in to a fight or flight response. Why you might ask? Because of the trauma our body’s systems automatically go into when it happens.
When I experienced the loss of my beloved pets, I felt the same kind of emotions that occurred when I was in the car accidents. And then it hit me!
Experiencing loss is no different than what would happen from the physical and emotional effects of being in a car accident
The only difference is; instead of a broken leg, we have a broken heart. Instead of bumps, bruises and stitches on the outside of our bodies, we have them all on the inside. If you are reading this right now and are experiencing grief and sadness from the loss of your pet, consider one message that I wish to clearly express – what you are going through is traumatic…just like being in a car accident, and can become a strong stressor in your life.
If our bodies respond to this stress in the same way, why are we not giving the attention we need when it comes to healing?
I’ve created a short video for you to watch on this very topic below. (4 minutes length)
How Can You Use This Message & Move Forward?
Once you can identify that your grief exists, the healing can begin. When you look at what your body is really responding to and the stress your body is working with, you can understand why you feel the way you do.
My goal is to bring you some comfort in knowing that you are not alone and to encourage you to take action in the direction to which you are comfortable doing.
I’ll be in touch again soon.
Warmly and in healing,
