When Your Pet Receives A Cancer Diagnosis

Updated: Dec 7, 2022

We all want the very best for our pets and do all that we can to help them. Receiving a cancer or terminal diagnosis can feel like we are climbing a very high mountain with no visible peak in sight. We don’t know what to do,……we just react and go forward and most times do so blindly. This article has been written to help those of you who are currently going through a cancer or terminal diagnosis with your pet in hopes that it can bring some peace to your heart as you walk the caregiving journey with your beloved furry family member.

Recently, I was asked to be a guest speaker with Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib for their Dog Cancer Series documentary community. The discussion was focused on how to help our pets best when receiving a cancer diagnosis and caring for them and also to help ourselves in the process. No one ever wants to receive a terminal diagnosis for their beloved animal companion and I hold a special place of support in my heart for those who have.

Having experienced this dreadful diagnosis for my beloved Mr. Mooshie and caring for him in the best way took its toll on my husband Troy and I both physically and emotionally. We wanted to do everything we could for him and one of the main keys I learned from this experience was that although I was doing everything I could, I was withholding myself from true self care. How could I help Mr. Mooshie fully when I wasn’t helping myself?

“BURNOUT FOR CAREGIVERS OF ANIMALS WITH CANCER IS REAL AND IS NO LESS OVERWHELMING THAN IF IT WAS A HUMAN”

Looking at our canine friends and companions, they are at one end of the leash and that’s the end we typically pay the most attention to…and well we should right? But what about the other end of that same leash? Of course we need to care for our pets and we also need to care for ourselves too. We give our hearts to our pets in ensuring the best quality of life. This discussion together with Dr. Becker, Rodney and I offers you strategies that you can implement when caregiving for your pet as well as yourself

RECEIVE VALUABLE INSIGHT

Of course there are many things that need to be implemented however this can be a place in which to start from in a positive light. By watching this interview, you will receive valuable insight on how to become the best version of you so you can help your animal have a better experience through you when caregiving during a cancer or terminal diagnosis.

*This video is part of the bonus material for the inner circle members who purchased the Dog Cancer Series documentary. I received permission from Dr. Becker and Rodney to share this with you for added value and to help as many people as possible.

In return for their kind gesture, I would also like to share the link to learn more about their much needed and valuable documentary to help their mission of funding the Paws For Change Foundation. All monies raised from this documentary is directed towards education and research in the areas of animal nutrition and the role of nutraceuticals, herbs and natural healing in promoting animal longevity and well being. I am not compensated in any way by sales made from this link. All monies go to Paws For Change.

*Although the interview together was professionally recorded, this recording below was from my end as I joined Dr. Becker and Rodney via Skype. My video below was not professionally recorded so bear that in mind when watching.

Joining you heart to heart always,

Marybeth
